Base makeup steps for clear and translucent skin
The core of Korean makeup is to cover blemishes naturally while preserving the skin's original texture. Rather than using thick layers of foundation, it is important to layer thinly multiple times to maintain a clear, radiant glow.
Preparation by skin type
- For oily skin, use a primer that controls sebum to fill in pores.
- For dry skin, ensure deep hydration with moisture ampoules or creams to create an inner glow.
- Sunscreen is essential before going out; choose a product with a high UV protection factor.
Techniques for a thin and adherent base
The most important aspect of the base stage is tool usage and portion control. When using foundation or cushion, applying too much at once can cause the makeup to look cakey or patchy. The key is to use a puff or brush to lightly tap and spread the product from the center of the face outward. In particular, areas with frequent movement, such as around the eyes and mouth, should be touched very lightly to prevent cracking over time. For areas with blemishes, apply the base overall, then use a small amount of concealer, tapping it in for a more natural finish. Finally, when using powder, it is better to lightly sweep it only over the T-zone and around the eyebrows where oiliness tends to increase, rather than covering the entire face, to maintain a soft, matte finish.
