Proper Cleansing Methods to Start Your Skincare
The first step in skincare for maintaining healthy skin is proper cleansing. You must thoroughly remove impurities and makeup residue from the skin's surface so that the active ingredients in subsequent steps can be effectively absorbed. The key to the Korean double-cleansing method is dissolving oil-based impurities with an oil-based cleanser, followed by washing away water-based impurities with a foam cleanser.
Selection Criteria for Cleansing Oils and Waters
- Cleansing Oil: Effective for managing sebum in pores, especially if you wear heavy makeup or have oily skin.
- Cleansing Water: Best for sensitive skin or when you prefer a light cleanse; use with a cotton pad to wipe gently.
- Use Lukewarm Water: Hot water can damage the skin barrier, so always use lukewarm water.
The Correct Sequence for Double Cleansing
Double cleansing is the most important part of the washing process. First, wash your hands thoroughly, then apply cleansing oil to a dry face and massage gently. At this point, add a little water to your fingertips to emulsify the oil, which helps lift impurities more effectively. Next, lather a foam cleanser sufficiently, gently roll it over your entire face, and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. After washing, avoid rubbing your face with a towel; instead, pat it dry to minimize skin irritation.
